My legs are killing me right now, they feel like iron weights. Yesterday I helped my cousin move to a new apartment, something which involved carrying heaps of boxes and other stuff 5 stories down, then up 2 stories at the new place. It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten that out of breath and sweaty, it felt like a nice workout. I just love the taste of salt on your skin after really sweating it out.

Wed 3rd August, 2005 22:46 » I do not know… I seek… I have not yet found

Still not much going on in my life currently that is worth mentioning, so I don’t really have much to write about. In general, life still sucks at the moment. There’s not really *one* thing that is the reasoning behind that, just all these small things that together brings me down.

I still haven’t received my tax card, so still no welfare. Which equals one unhappy skint0r, unable to buy new DVDs that he wants. On top of that, the job that I was hoping to get through my friend is out of the question at the moment, as they don’t need people right now. It leaves me wondering what the hell I’m going to apply for. I don’t want to sit behind a register and deal with stressed out people that couldn’t care less about wether you existed or not. And since I have no schooling, my options are limited. Will I ever get a job that I’m happy with? My hopes are pretty low.

Been in the movie watching mood lately, seen way too much 80s action movies for my own good. Sometimes it’s nice to zone out and watch mindless violence with Bronson, Schwarzenegger, Swayze and the likes. If I wasn’t so lazy I’d try to write more movie reviews, but I’m not sure if anyone ever reads them anyway. Maybe I even should remove that section from the site.

Had to go to a stupid information meeting about the welfare situation today. It lasted a lot less than expected, only 20-30mins all in all. At least I think it was over by then, I left anyway.

Life is yet again good. Besides the fact that I soon will be seeing Iron Maiden live, I’ve recently been downloading new bands and checking out new songs. One of the best feelings in life must be when you find an awesome song that you instantly dig and can’t stop listening to. There’s been a lot of those lately, joy.

Updated the “about me” page a little bit, nothing drastic however.

Not much happening in my life lately, just trying to sort of the welfare stuff and checking job possibilities. My ISP just doubled all it’s customer’s speed, so within 14 days I will have a 4096/768kbps connection, woho. Still wish they could raise the upload speed a bit though.

Woke up 08.00 today, way too early when you’re on “holiday” (or unemployment if you want to call it that). Went down to the local Aetat office to sign up for welfare while I’m unemployed. Have to go back there in some days when I get my tax card in the mail to complete the registration thing. Will be nice to get some extra money while I do nothing the next few weeks.

Ah, at last. Last week has been sort of hectic at work. Since they are gonna stop doing poster printing during the summer untill the new civil service worker starts in August, there’s been a constant stream of people wanting to get their posters printed before I quit. Basically been doing them non-stop while at work this week. My boss baked me a chocolate cake for today, and I got some 40 euro worth of gift cards, which was more than expected. Going to be weird waking up on Monday, without having to go to work.

Wed 18th May, 2005 14:49 » What I do at work

It was quite enjoyable having a four day long weekend. I celebrated Norway’s independence day by staying inside and watching Prince of Tennis episodes. Got really annoyed now though, the supply of episodes seems to have stopped at episode 153, there are 178 in total. So now I’m wondering if it’s still being aired over in Japan, or if it’s not out on DVD yet, or what the hell is going on. I was so close to finishing it, now I don’t know how long it’s going to take before the final episodes come out. I recently got this urge of trying out some new anime series, so I guess I’ll be moving on to some other series in the meanwhile. Got these two short series waiting for me at home right now: Rurouni Kenshin: Reminiscence and The Eternity You Wish For (Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien). Let’s hope they turn out to be good, it doesn’t really look like my style.

And the reason why I initially started writing this post, here’s a screenshot of what I might do at work on a typical day (click to see larger version, in case you don’t get it):

Fri 13th May, 2005 17:27 » Pictures from work

This is the first sight upon entering. My room is the first to the left, next is a hallway that leads out to the balcony we have, next door is the photo studio, the next is our main room, and then to the far right (which you can’t really see) is a hallway that leads to some stock rooms.

My room, with some visible equipment.

My desk, 1.5GHz P4, 128MB RAM, ooo yea.

Work awaits :|

Some of our stock, mostly paper that is seen here, with some toner for the copy machine on the second to top shelf there.

Print server.

One of our laser printers, HP 5500.

The second one, currently undergoing maintenance, HP 8500.

Slides waiting to be scanned. The piled papers to the right are finished jobs.

Our way too old large format printer, not in use anymore, except in extreme emergencies.

The beauty, Epson PRO9600, max width: 106cm, yum.

Main room, one of my coworkers place. Mac, yuck.

Also the main room, the table where we usually eat.

Main room again, with the big table where various stuff is done.

Lunch is bought. 6 bread/buns thingies, and a tropical nectar/juice.

Fri 13th May, 2005 13:49 » Last days of civil service

Mmm… Yet another weekend coming, a long one at that. On Monday and Tuesday I have the day off, Tuesday is Norway’s independence day. After that there’s only Wednesday, Thursday and Friday left, and I’m free. These last months has gone by incredibly fast, probably because I finally figured out the magic formula of how to do as little work as possible and still seem like I’m stomped with work. Some stats about my accomplishments while here for 13 months:

• 62 NES/SNES/Genesis/GB games completed
• 44 minute totaltime in Elma
• Thousands of lines to IRC stats

I actually checked the values on the copy machine and all printers right after I started here, so here’s how much work that has been done:

• 3.541 copies
• 13.305 printouts
• 191 posters (roughly 230 metres of paper)
• 36.000 newsletters sorted and distributed

I took my camera with me to work today, got a couple of pictures before the battery crapped out on me. Will post them later today. Nothing too interesting though, just some pictures of the rooms and equipment.

Fri 6th May, 2005 12:52 » Some more reviews

Ah, back to work after a nice day off, and still it doesn’t seem so bad being Friday and all. Only 2.5 hours left and weekend already. Can’t wait to get home today and watch some more Prince of Tennis episodes. Just wrote a couple of short reviews on the Star Trek movies that I’ve seen so far, I should have been done with all by now, but it took a while to get a hold of the 4th one.

• Star Trek: The Motion Picture
• Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
• Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
• Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
• Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
